Superintendent's Office

Dr. Andy Baker joined Kilgore ISD as Superintendent of Schools in January, 2019.  Over his 25 year educational career, Baker has served in many roles including classroom teacher at both the Middle School and High School levels, High School Athletic Coach, Social Studies Department Chairman, both Middle School and High School Assistant Principal, Campus Principal and District Superintendent.  Baker holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of Dallas, Master of Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and obtained his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.  Both of Baker’s parents had accomplished careers in education with his mother serving as a Special Education Classroom Teacher for over 32 years and his father serving as an Administrator and Superintendent of Schools for 36 years.  Married for 23 years to his wife Rebecca who is an English-Language Arts Teacher, they have 3 wonderful children; Connor (13) who attends Kilgore Middle School, Shannon (19) who attends Texas Christian University, and Garrett (22) who attends Texas A&M University.  As a champion for public education, Baker adamantly believes that small town communities like Kilgore are the backbone of our Texas public education system; that superior school systems are not a result of their size but of the ability of a school and it’s community to work and grow together; and that the ultimate role he has as the Superintendent of Kilgore ISD is to provide the leadership necessary to cultivate a positive school environment that champions both high academic expectations and accomplished extracurricular/co-curricular opportunity.
