Automated Calls

Kilgore ISD uses a service called SchoolMessenger (or Skylert) to send automated phone calls, text messages and emails to parents and guardians about school-related safety, events, reminders, absences, etc.

 

If you are receiving Kilgore ISD messages in error and/or would like to have your phone number or email address removed from our notification system, please contact info@kisd.org or call 903-988-3900.

 

Manage Your Notification Preferences

If you are the parent or guardian of a Kilgore ISD student, you may select how you would like to receive school-related notifications by setting your preferences in Skyward Family Access. You may select whether you want to be notified by phone (and at which phone number), by text or by email for each type of alert (emergency, general, absence, etc.).

Skylert Preferences

    1. Log in to Family Access and then click the "Skylert" tab on the left margin.
    2. Add or update phone numbers and email addresses.
    3. Choose which type of messages to receive on which telephones.
    4. Add or update the number on which you'd like Text / SMS messages.
    5. Click the "Save" button to lock in your communication preferences.

 

Opt In to Receive Text Messages from Kilgore ISD

To receive text message alerts about school safety, weather closings, events and more on your mobile phone, simply text “Y” or “Yes” to Kilgore ISD’s short code number, 67587. You can OPT OUT of these messages at any time by replying to one of our messages with the word “Stop.”

 

IMPORTANT: Your mobile phone number must be part of your student’s contact information on file with the school in order to receive alerts. To add your mobile number to your student’s information, contact the school or add the number online through Family Access.

 

Communication Preferences for Employees

Employees may update their preferences in Employee Access.

If you are receiving unwanted text messages from Kilgore ISD, simply reply "Stop" to any message.

Confirm the text device number(s) are on file with the campus in student's contact information.

 

Text “Y” to 67587 from each wireless device they wish to receive texts on. Note: Depending on the data synchronization configuration it may take 24 hours or more for numbers to be updated from the district database.

Ensure that the district has your correct device number in the database (Family Access - Skylert or HR System for employees). It may take 24 hours for a number to become active after being changed or added to the district’s system.
 
Send a text with “Y”, from that specific device, to 67587. You should receive an opt-in confirmation message from the service. If you want to receive texts on multiple devices, each device number must complete the Opt-In process.
SchoolMessenger does not charge recipients for the text messages that they receive or send to the short code; however, wireless providers may charge for individual text messages, depending on the plan associated with the wireless device.
