In an information age, there is a lot of power in knowing how to manage media.
Kilgore High School students are learning how to craft their message in the medium of our information age. They are learning the tools that will open doors to their future and Westlake Chemical has made a contribution to make their path a little easier.
Jeff Garner, a Warehouse Supervisor with Westlake Chemical, learned of the media program this past year and presented a proposal to his company for consideration. Westlake, a chemical and plastics corporation based out of Houston, has a facility in Longview and was happy to give back to the community that surrounds it.
The donation will fund additional digital media workstations that will allow more students to master their creativity. In just the past three years, the media program has increased student participation by 82%. Westlake's donation will help KISD meet the needs of these students.
