KISD SHORTS: A Student Film Festival

THEME:    I Believe in KISD.

Kilgore ISD is unique and special.  Show your audience the things about Kilgore ISD (your club, your class, your peers, whatever) that inspire you.  Show the positive, but don’t be afraid to be funny or creative.  

GENRES: Public Service Announcement, music video, rap, short film or anything your imagination can dream up.


  1. Short films must be student produced. Teachers and parents may serve as advisers and assistants, but the film should be a student creation that reflects student perspectives.  Adults may submit their own submission in the Community Members category.

  2. Students may work individually, in small groups, or as a class.  All filmmakers responsible for the film must be clearly stated in the credits and on the contest entry form.

  3. Films must be between 1-3 minutes in length.

  4. Films must be original creations that abide by copyright laws and respect intellectual property.

  5. Films will refrain from using material inappropriate for school.

  6. Films can be made on any device – iPad, phone, computer, video camera, etc. The final version turned in for the contest may be in MP4 format or uploaded to YouTube with hashtag #KIbelieveSD

  7. Contestants must complete the entry form ( and submit film by December 18, 2014 in one of the following ways:

  • Brought on a flash drive or CD to campus principal’s office by noon on Dec. 18, 2014.

  • Upload to YouTube and include tag #KIbelieveSD

  1. Kilgore ISD reserves the right to use all submitted films for educational and promotional purposes.

  2. The top films will be showcased on the KISD website on Friday December 19th. The first and second place winners in each category will receive an award.


Prizes will be awarded to the top 2 short films in each of the following categories:

  • Elementary School (K-5)

  • Middle School (6-8)

  • High School (9-12)

  • Community Members (Staff, Parents, former students, etc.)
