Kilgore ISD Prepares for the School Year

Hello Kilgore Bulldog Community!  Your Kilgore ISD team is busy closing out the current school year and hard at work planning for the major challenges Covid-19 is posing for the upcoming school year.  Even though we continue to await firm back-to-school guidance from the Texas Education Agency, Kilgore ISD is still on track to welcome back our students on the new date of Wednesday, August 12th.  To help ensure this back to school plan, KISD has set the following priorities to serve as our 2020-21 foundational core: 1) KISD will ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our Bulldog students, staff members, and visitors, 2) KISD will continue our educational environment goal of providing maximum instructional delivery with an emphasis on face-to-face learning, and 3) KISD will provide flexibility for continuity of learning should the learning environment or ultimate configuration need to change.

While the KISD goal is to begin the new school year with face-to-face, in-person learning, our priority will continue to be the safety and well-being of our students and staff.  To help us better prepare for possible learning delivery alternatives should they be needed, KISD intends to send our parents a Parent Back to School Survey on Monday, July 6th.  This survey will be available via the KISD website (www.kisd.org), KISD social media, and will be available via email and hard copy if requested.  This Parent Survey will help us better plan and prepare for the following learning method opportunities for students:

  1. Face-to-Face Instruction – traditional, at school, in-person learning that involves daily student and classroom teacher interaction.  This method will have additional safety measures as mandated by the Texas Education Agency and the State of Texas.
  2. Remote-At Home Learning – a robust, at home, online learning environment with daily student interaction and participation expectations.  This method is designed and intended for students who are not planning to return to an in-person school setting even if local and state governing entities deem it safe to do so.  This learning method may limit and/or exclude student extracurricular participation.

Our Bulldog families will receive the Back to School Parent Survey (July 6), Online Student Registration (July 16), and additional back to school information throughout the next few weeks.  This information will be posted on the KISD website (www.kisd.org) and KISD social media.
