KILGORE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

AP COURSE CONTRACT

Course Title: English 9-10 Pre AP

 English 11-12 AP

The purpose for Pre AP courses is to prepare students for college work and/or AP exams that give students the opportunity to receive college credit. Typically, successful AP students are task oriented, proficient readers, who are able to prioritize their time. AP courses are different from the regular high school courses in that they are taught with advanced curricula. Other characteristics of AP courses include content immersion, a fast pace, and assessment of performance at the analysis and synthesis levels.  Any student failing a Pre AP or AP English course for the six weeks will conference with Mr. Wheeley.  A second failure will cause the student to be removed from the class.

More information about Pre AP and AP courses can be found at the following: www.collegeboard.org/ap/english
