Re: Dental Insurance Benefits
Kilgore
Independent School District strives to provide our employees with the highest
quality of benefits with the most competitive and affordable rates. In the last
few days the Human Resource Department has received several comments and/or
complaints concerning our dental change to MetLife that became effective
September 1, 2008. In the last several years, KISD has changed dental carriers a
number of times due to increased premium rates. Two years ago we elected to join
the Region VII Cooperative as they offered reasonable rates as well as
competitive benefits. However; the latest increase from Fort Dearborn Life was
at 46%, which we found to be unacceptable for our employees. The Region VII
cooperative researched the available options and made the decision to elect
MetLife as the dental carrier replacing Fort Dearborn. Kilgore ISD also reviewed
several options and elected to continue with the Region VII Cooperative as the
benefits and rates were compatible to previous carriers. Please note on the
MetLife website some of the participating dentist in the Kilgore area were not
listed but are members and will honor the insurance. Here are some of the
dentists in Kilgore who are participating in the program:
Dr. Baker – 903-984-2047 – currently a MetLife
preferred provider
Dr. Landry – 903-984-8556– currently a MetLife
preferred provider
Dr. DeSantis – 903-984-4231 – not a preferred
provider but will file the claim for you (* may balance bill)
Dr. DeGraffenreid – 903-984-0614– not a preferred
provider but will file the claim for you (* may balance bill)
Dr. Jeff Davis – 903-984-3597– not a preferred

Dr. Marcy Whitmer – 903-984-1108– not a preferred

NOTE -The human
resources department contacted the dentists listed to obtain their
current status. If your current dentist is not listed please contact
them to inquire about their status with MetLife.
* Balance
Bill – the amount that may be owed to the provider for services that are over
the usual and customary charge. (Example; your non-network dentist charges 85.00
for a cleaning - MetLife states usual and customary charges are 80.00 – the
dental carrier will pay 80.00 towards the cleaning - you
may owe your dentist 5.00) |
