LOCAL GUIDELINES
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND APPRAISAL SYSTEM

Observations shall
begin no sooner than three weeks after teacher orientation on
PDAS. Appraisers are cautioned to review lesson plans prior to
observation to avoid non-instructional activities.

For the 2010-2011
school year all formal observations using the PDAS shall be
scheduled by day, date, and time.

When using the
minimum of one appraiser during any appraisal period, an
observation by a SECOND APPRAISER shall be provided if requested
by a teacher.

Domains I, II, III,
IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII and the Teacher Performance Criteria
rating scale will be used for staff development and contract
renewal. * See notation at bottom of page.

Documentation of cumulative data will be entered on a standard form provided by
the district. Three copies shall be prepared—one copy to the teacher, one to
the principal, and one to the superintendent.

Records shall be maintained according to school board policy DNA (Local)

Principals or assistant principals shall serve as the teacher supervisor of
those teachers on their campuses.
The teacher supervisor for itinerant personnel shall be the principal of the
campus where this person receives his or her check.
All principals, supervisors, assistant principals, directors of support
programs, and deputy superintendent shall serve as other appraisers.

Minimum requirements will be met on professional
growth plans and conferences; however, an appraiser may go
beyond the minimum if he/she so
desires.
